Principals News – Term 4 Week 3

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

A reminder that the school development day is coming up on Wednesday 24th November. There will be no school for all WCLDC students on this day.

As always, we have hit the ground running in term 4. The deputies and speech pathologists have been working with the year 1 class teachers on grid marking, looking at and discussing evidence on how much the children have progressed across all oral language and academic areas. The data collected from the grid marking across all year levels will be the focus of staff meetings and the school development day coming up. Staff will look at how the children have gone, reflect on their teaching and discuss these reflections in year groups. A summary of our findings will be included in the 2021 Annual Report. A brief overview will be included in the next newsletter.

The admin team are working through new referrals for placement for 2022. It is a time-consuming process to ensure children are placed appropriately. New parent meetings are coming up in a couple of weeks and we are looking forward to welcoming new families to our centres.

If you have not accessed the bus services before and you live within the boundary for your site, you will need to apply for bus access for 2022. If you are shifting sites you must re-apply for the bus or a conveyance access allowance. We suggest that you do this as soon as possible.

It is wonderful to see how far the children have come this year and I would like to thank all our fantastic staff who have helped the children reach their potential. There are still several weeks left of the term and we will all continue to work hard to develop your child’s skills. Year 1 parents will have the opportunity to meet with the class teacher at the end of the year to discuss reports and how to support their child moving into mainstream next year.
