Principal’s News – Letter to Parents

Dear Parents & Caregivers,

As you are aware, Premier Mark Mc Gowan has announced that parents can now drop their children at the class door. We will still be working under a ‘Drop and Go’ policy and parents cannot go into classrooms. While walking onto the site and waiting (at pick up time), please remember to social distance.

If parents wish to speak to the class teacher, please make a request via class DoJo and they will contact you by phone. The only time a parent can be onsite for extended time is for formal case conferences.

The principal at Quinns Beach Primary School is considering having the students dropped at the gate for some days to manage the numbers of parents onsite. Catherine Regan will let Quinns Beach parents know what the specific arrangements will be.

Most parents have been very supportive when their children are sick and have kept them home. On Friday and yesterday at one site 6 children were sent home. It is essential that your child remains at home when they are not well.

The staff had a very productive day on Tuesday looking at cognitive thinking skills associated with social learning in the morning and STEM (Science, Technology, engineering and Maths) in the afternoon. We could not all meet together at the one site due our numbers and social distancing requirements. We are very hopeful that by our next the School Development Day we can all meet together as a group. While technology is a useful tool, it does not replace the need for face to face contact so it is good that we are slowly moving towards more normal operations.

Stay safe.

Kind regards

Shelley Blakers
