We have had a busy and wonderful start to the year! The children are settling in well in Pre-primary A and have been engaging in lots of different activities through the week and making new friends.
So far we have been focussing on classroom rules and learning all about Whole Body Listening to promote active listening. The children can tell you how they listen with their eyes, ears, mouths, hands, legs and brain! We are learning to move safely around the classroom and playground by being the boss of our bodies and mouths. Our lining up is greatly improving through the term and the children are learning to be kind and polite to each other.
We have been learning about characters and settings, so that we can become great story tellers and this term we have learned to say the rhyme of ‘Incy Wincy Spider’, using actions and a story map to help us. We will soon be learning the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’.
In Science we have been learning about the concepts of soft and hard and recently made a pet rock to support our understanding of “hard”. As we talk about ‘The Three Little Pigs’, we will learn more about our Science topic of materials.
In Maths, our focus has been on recognising small collections of objects at a glance (subitising) and counting to 10.
Wednesdays with Mrs Hardwick are also very busy! We enjoy choosing a book at the library each week and play lots of fun games in Sport.
We are all looking forward to a happy, fun remainder of the term.
