Transition of LDC students to mainstream
The Outreach service oversees the smooth transition of exiting students into mainstream schools/classes. This is facilitated by providing and/or organising the following:
- Sending exit information/letter, in term 4 of each year, to relevant schools and administration outlining the specific strengths and/or difficulties the exiting LDC student may have.
- Conducting a Transition P.D. for all teachers from both private and government schools. This provides information on DLD, the impact this has on learning, and strategies used within the LDC that can also be used in mainstream to improve student outcomes.
- Ongoing support for teachers/administration via email, phone, professional learning or consults.
- Joint meetings/collaboration of LDC staff and the Outreach Team to ensure effective dissemination of relevant student information.
