Padbury Deputy News

The students have settled into term four well, and it is great to see the growing independence of the children since the beginning of the year. As the weather is warming up, please ensure that your child has a hat and drink bottle of water at school each day. We are fortunate that we have many wonderful shady play spaces at the Padbury campus, however we still need to ensure that we are ‘sun smart’ at all times.

On Friday 16th October the LDC celebrated DLD Awareness Day. It was great that staff and students were able to support this day by wearing purple and yellow to school, to help raise awareness for children and adults with Developmental Language Disorder.

I would like to remind parents that NAIDOC week is in week 5, and Book Week for our campus is in week 6.

Students are looking forward the NAIDOC Art incursion on Tuesday 10th November, and the Book Week dress up day on Thursday 19th November.

The LDC has been allocated a transportable building for extra office space, which will be sited between the staff carpark and the LDC Kindy demountable. The installation of this building will take place between Thursday 29th October and Friday 13th November (inclusive).

Some of our year one students will be attending transition days at their new school (this is an option for all exiting students). Our recommendation is one day a week for weeks 6 to 9 – preferably Tuesdays for year ones. Parents are to contact the mainstream school to arrange a convenient time to talk with admin staff to schedule transition day dates and times. Please inform your child’s teacher if your child will be attending transition days later this term.

Poseidon and Quinns Beach Deputy News

There are lots of exciting events coming up at the Poseidon campus. The Water Fun Day and Obstacle is happening on Friday 13th November. You should have received your sponsor forms so please get as many sponsors as you can. Monies raised will go towards much needed improved playground equipment across the school. There will be a maximum of 25 laps and should be a fantastic day.

The Twilight Picnic with Food Trucks is planned for Friday 20th November and will be held on the oval at the Poseidon campus from 5:00 to 8:30pm. The P and C are organising this event for all families and there are some fun activities planned such as dancing and music and bouncy castles. There will be stalls run by the year 3 – 6 students with things such as ‘Guess the lollies in the jar’ and a small plant stall. Please support the school and invite your family and friends to join in Poseidon PS for the Twilight Picnic.

The year 1 students at both Quinns and Poseidon will be heading off to Scitech later this term and I know they will have a blast. Scitech is so much fun and the children will be heading into the Planetarium as well as spending time in the general exhibition area. I hope I get to go along!

What a busy and crazy year it has been. There is still lots to get through such as assemblies and class performances. Keep an eye out for any notes and information about upcoming events and we hope to see you there.
