Padbury Deputy News
Students are settling in to the routines of their new class and are making new friends. Teachers, speech pathologists and education assistants have been spending time getting to know your child and completing assessments and observations to determine each student’s current levels in oral language, academic and social areas. This is important as it enables staff to set appropriate individual goals for your child and implement strategies to achieve these goals. An individual goal list for Semester One will be sent home at the end of this term.
Pick-Up Time
I would like to remind parents that school at the Padbury campus finishes at 3:00pm. Some parents need to pick children up from other schools and that is fine. Teachers can dismiss children from class from 2:40pm if you need to collect your child early. If you need to pick your child up prior to 2:40pm please sign your child out at the front office. For those who do not have to travel to other schools, 3:00pm is the finishing time.
Incursions
We have two exciting incursions coming up. On Friday 12th March the Pre-primary students have Science Alive visiting. On Monday 22nd March the Year Ones have West Oz Wildlife (and their furry friends) visiting. Please return permission slips and payment if you haven’t already done so.
Harmony Week
Harmony Week this year is 15-21 March 2021. The Padbury campus will be celebrating on Thursday 18th March. This is an important opportunity to celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity. Students learn about a sense of belonging for everyone. Teachers will be organising Harmony Day activities for their class.
Students are encouraged to wear orange to school on 18th March. This can be socks, headband, scrunchie or any item of clothing. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication. It also relates to the encouragement of mutual respect.
Parking
We have two ACROD bays at the school. Please ensure these are kept free at all times for those with ACROD parking permits.
The bus bay on MacDonald Avenue in front of the school is a ‘No Standing Zone’ between the hours of 7.30am-9.00am and 2.30pm-4.00pm Monday to Friday. Please do not use this bay to park in or drop off/pick up children. The school buses use this bay at the beginning and end of each school day.
For those who park on Mac Donald Avenue, we request that you avoid doing U-turns after drop-off or pick-up, and please try and park on the school side of the road. This will minimise the potential for accidents involving pedestrians or other vehicles. We appreciate your co-operation with these matters.
Pathway Works
We are currently having a significant amount of pathway removed and replaced with concrete around the school. Whilst this involves some inconvenience this term, the new paths will be worth it.
