From the Deputies Desk – Term 4

East Hamersley Campus

The Year 1 students at Padbury and East Hamersley will going on an excursion to Scitech on Wednesday 11th December. This is going to be a big day out for all concerned and finishes the year with a wonderful experience. I’m sure the children will be full of things to tell you about their day out.

We had our exiting LDC parent meeting on Tuesday 3rd of December and it was fantastic to see so many parents attend. There was an information booklet handed out that contained information on what to expect next year and how to advocate for your child. I also explained the role of our Outreach Service and how this relates to our exiting students. If you were unable to attend the meeting but would like the handout, please let your teacher know and I will make sure you receive it.

I can’t believe I have just read the students’ final reports for this year. It has been a privilege to watch the children develop over the past year and to read about their amazing progress. I am constantly in awe of the teachers and speech pathologists at the LDC and I would like to formally express my appreciation for all the hard work they all put in to ensure your child reaches their full potential. Every child at East Hamersley should be proud of what they have achieved this year. Reports will be sent out via Connect at the end of Week 9, so keep an eye out for the relevant email that will contain this information.

I would like to wish all our Year 1 students the best of luck at their new school in 2020 and I sincerely hope that I hear great things about you in the future.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas break and a prosperous New Year.

Mrs Deborah Silverlock

Deputy Principal – East Hamersley

Padbury Campus

I have been reading end-of-year student reports and am delighted to read of the progress students have made. These gains reflect the ongoing hard work and collaboration between students, staff and parents over the year. For our Kindy students especially, it can be amazing to reflect on how far they have come since the beginning of the year. Student reports will be available on the Education Department’s ‘Connect’ portal this semester, for you to read digitally or print out as you choose. Please follow the instructions in this newsletter and refer to the email previously sent to you about this process.

The Year One students performed a wonderful assembly item on 5th December. Well done Year Ones – all your practice was worth it. On behalf of everyone I would like to wish all of our Year One students all the best for next year as they transition to their new schools. It was great to see so many parents at our ‘Transition to Mainstream’ workshop last week.

Each class teacher will let their families know about end-of-year class parties etc., so be sure to check Class Dojo for relevant information.

The last day of school for students is Thursday 19th December. I wish all families a safe and happy holiday break. For those attending the LDC next year, we look forward to seeing you back on Monday 3rd February. It’s been a pleasure to serve the Padbury campus as acting deputy this term. Mrs Sarah Arnatt will be back from a wonderfully long break in Term 1 of next year to resume the role.
