We are as proud of the kindy children as they have learnt so many new things this year. They have developed great whole body listening skills.
Our first theme in Term Four was transport. During ‘Box Art Week’ we built an air, land or water transport vehicle out of boxes, bottle tops and other odds and ends. In arts and craft sessions we created a transport board; this helped us categorize and generate examples of air, land and sea transport vehicles.
We took turns telling the class about our transport vehicle. We talked about its parts and whether it belonged to the land group, air group or water group. The Kindy children’s descriptive skills have improved considerably over the year.
As part of our next theme (Beach and Leisure), we set up a beach and ocean area similar to the one in our book ‘Grandpa and Thomas and the Green Umbrella’. We have been practising labelling and describing the functions of items we use at the beach. In the beach area, we are learning how to play together, take turns with special toys and be a ‘kind’ friend.
Michael, Charlie–Dean and Euan received certificates from Mrs Silverlock. Well done, boys!
Finally, we celebrated two birthdays. Happy Birthday, Euan and Xavier!
What a fun and productive term!
