Case conferences for Kindergarten and Pre-primary students will take place in weeks 8 to 10 of this term.  Year one case conferences will be at the end of the year. Parents/Carers of Kindy and Pre-primary students will have received a letter with the case conference date and time.  The case conference is an important opportunity for you to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss your child’s progress so far this year. Please ensure you make the 30-minute time-slot available so that you can attend this meeting.

We have had a few “special days” at school this month. Pre-primary and Year One students looked wonderful dressed up as their 100-year-old selves to celebrate 100 days of school. On 4th and 5th August the classes celebrated National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day. Students participated in activities including art, music and stories to learn about cultural traditions and promote celebration, respect and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. National Science Week was last week. Students enjoyed an afternoon of hands-on activities learning Science concepts and skills.

The Athletics Carnival will take place next Wednesday 2nd September (weather permitting). Please ensure your child has their coloured faction shirt, hat and water bottle. Classes have been busy practising the sprints and group games. It is disappointing that parents are unable to attend, due to restrictions in Phase 4, and we thank families for your understanding. Teachers will put some photos on Dojo for parents.

Poseidon and Quinns Beach Deputy News

The children at Quinns Beach had a fantastic week celebrating Book Week. There were lots of activities around stories including a visualisation of a text, an artist painting a scene from Charlotte’s Web while the children watched on and a fantastic Book Week parade. I was super impressed with some of the costumes, particularly the ones made by some very creative mums and dads. Well done to those who won a book prize for their costume.

Both Quinns Beach and Poseidon have their Sports Carnival on Friday 4th September. Parents and carers are welcome to come along and support their child and team. Just keep that social distancing in mind and do the right thing. Coloured hair and clothes are always an added bonus so get that hair spray out! Teachers will be giving you some more information about the participation of each year level so keep an eye out for that. It should be a fun day for all.

I look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s progress at the case conferences coming up later this term.
